Focus RV Group converts vans into campervans, motorhomes and off-grid touring rigs at our Campbellfield workshop in Melbourne's north. We build for Melbourne customers from across the city: northern suburb owners after a weekender, eastern suburb couples planning the Big Lap, western suburb tradies wanting a dual-use work-and-travel rig, and bayside customers after a luxury build that doubles as a guest room at home.
The Melbourne van conversion market has its own quirks. Victoria has clear rules around weight limits, gas certification and the paperwork required to re-register a van as a motorhome. We handle all of it in-house, including the VicRoads-side registration process, the gas compliance certificate, the electrical sign-off and the engineering paperwork on weight-modified builds. You drive away road-legal.
This page covers the Melbourne-specific side of our van conversion service. For the full breakdown of platforms we build on, build tiers, layouts, systems and indicative timelines, see our main campervan conversions page. Read the full guide
Our Campbellfield workshop covers customers from across greater Melbourne. Below are the areas we see most often. If you're outside these areas, call us and we'll work out the most practical drop-off plan.
Campbellfield, Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Epping, Mill Park, Thomastown, Roxburgh Park, Coolaroo and Somerton. Most northern suburb customers are 5 to 20 minutes from the workshop.
Brunswick, Coburg, Preston, Northcote, Fitzroy, Carlton and Melbourne CBD. Hume Freeway access from the inner north makes drop-off straightforward, usually 25 minutes outside peak.
Bulleen, Doncaster, Templestowe, Box Hill, Ringwood and Croydon. Eastern customers come via Eastlink or the Western Ring Road, generally 35 to 50 minutes.
Footscray, Sunshine, Werribee, Point Cook and Caroline Springs. Direct access via the Western Ring Road and Western Freeway, around 30 to 45 minutes.
St Kilda, Brighton, Bentleigh, Mentone and Frankston. Southern customers come via the Tullamarine Freeway or Eastlink, generally 45 to 60 minutes outside peak.
Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and Shepparton by appointment. We coordinate the build schedule so the van only needs to make the trip once at drop-off and once at hand-back.
Our Campbellfield workshop sits just off the Hume Freeway, with easy access from the Western Ring Road, the Tullamarine Freeway and the M80. Most Melbourne customers reach us in 30 minutes or less, and outer-suburb customers in 45 to 60 minutes outside peak. There's room on site to leave the van or to come in for a workshop visit during business hours.
We know what VicRoads expects on a converted van: weight compliance, gas certification, electrical sign-off and the supporting paperwork required to re-register a van as a motorhome. This matters in Victoria, where the registration class affects insurance pricing, towing limits and where the van can legally park. Builds we do come with the right documentation pack at hand-back.
10+ years building campervans for Melbourne customers, with Google reviews from across the city. Most of our work comes from word-of-mouth and referrals: a Brunswick customer recommends us to a Northcote neighbour, an Epping customer brings in a friend from Mill Park, and so on. The Melbourne van community is small, and reputation travels fast.
We build at the workshop, not on the customer's driveway. That means dust-free interior finishes, proper electrical bench testing, secure overnight storage during the build, and no weather delays from Melbourne winters. The trade-off is that you drop the van for the build window. The benefit is a finish that holds up to a Lap of Australia, not a backyard finish that looks rough after the first long trip.
Book a workshop visit or phone consult. Bring your van, bring photos, or bring a Pinterest board. We talk through how you travel, who travels with you, your budget, your registration plan and what layout suits the platform you're building on. Most consults run 45 to 90 minutes.
Written fixed-price quote, with optional design drawings on larger builds. The quote breaks down platform prep, framing, insulation, cabinetry, electrical, gas, water, appliances and finish work, so you can see exactly where the budget sits.
Drop the van for build. Most builds run 4 to 16 weeks depending on scope. We give you a build schedule on day one, with weekly progress photos so you can see the work as it happens.
Final test drive, gas certificate, electrical compliance certificate, written workmanship warranty, registration paperwork and a walk-through of every system. You drive away road-legal and ready to use.
