Workshop-Attached Caravan Storage in Melbourne

Caravan storage is the service most owners only think about twice a year: when they pack the van away after a trip and when they pull it back out for the next one. Both moments are when problems show up. Batteries discharged. Water sitting in tanks. Mice in the upholstery. Tyres flat-spotted. Gas isolators left on. Insurance lapsed because the van wasn't being driven.

Focus RV Group offers caravan storage from our Campbellfield workshop on Sydney Road. The difference is that storage here sits beside a fully operating service department. The same team that stores your van also preps it for storage, checks on it during storage and signs it off as roadworthy when you collect it. You deal with one workshop, one quote and one written workmanship guarantee covering the whole cycle.

Our storage clients include weekend caravanners who tour two or three times a year, retirees who tour for six months and store for six, fleet operators rotating campervans between hire seasons, and owners who simply don't have the driveway space or the council approval to keep a large van at home.

Caravan Storage Options

Short-Term Storage

Storage for trips of a few weeks up to three months. Suitable for owners between trips, owners on extended interstate work, or owners selling their van who need it off the driveway while it's on the market. Minimum stay one week.

Long-Term Storage

Storage for three months and beyond. Includes scheduled in-storage checks: tyre rotation, battery top-up, tank ventilation and pest inspection. Most owners storing for a full winter or a full off-season choose this tier.

Off-Season Storage

Storage timed to the Australian touring calendar: store the van after the Easter trip, collect it for spring. We hold the booking from one season to the next and run the post-storage roadworthy check before you collect.

Pre-Sale Storage

Storage while the van is listed for sale. We keep the van presentable, run buyer inspections on site, and can carry out pre-sale repairs or detailing without the van leaving the workshop.

Storage with Servicing

Storage combined with annual service, pre-trip inspection, repairs, refurbishment or accessory installation. Work is scheduled while the van is parked, so the van leaves storage already serviced and ready to tow.

Storage with Insurance or Warranty Work

Storage while the van is undergoing insurance or warranty repairs. Insurers and manufacturers preauthorise the work, and the van stays on site from drop-off through repair completion to collection.

Vehicles We Store

Focus RV stores the following vehicle types at our Campbellfield workshop, subject to current space availability. Phone (03) 8383 1026 to confirm fit for oversize or non-standard vans.

Caravans

Single-axle, tandem-axle and tri-axle caravans up to large family vans.

Campervans & Motorhomes

Motorised RVs including converted vans and B-class motorhomes.

Camper Trailers

Soft-floor, hard-floor and hybrid camper trailers.

Pop-Tops

Pop-top caravans with collapsible roofs, stored in down position.

5th Wheelers

5th wheel caravans, subject to space availability.

Boats & Trailers

By arrangement, subject to space availability. Phone to confirm.

What Happens Before Your Van Goes Into Storage

Pre-storage prep is what separates a caravan that comes out of storage tow-ready from one that needs a workshop visit before its next trip. We run the following checklist before the van settles in for the stay.

Battery Isolation & Top-Up

Lithium and AGM batteries are disconnected at the master isolator or top-up charged before long-term storage. Stops the slow drain that flattens batteries over six months.

Water System Drain & Flush

Fresh and grey water tanks drained, lines purged, hot water service drained. Prevents stagnation, algae, and frost damage in winter storage.

Gas Isolation

Gas bottles disconnected and bottle pressure-tested if approaching the ten-year recertification date. Gas regulator capped.

Tyre Pressure & Rotation Plan

Tyres inflated to storage pressure and a rotation schedule set for long-term stays so the van doesn't sit on the same contact patch for months.

Pest & Moisture Prevention

Vents inspected, mouse traps set, moisture absorbers placed in soft-furnishing areas. Roof seals checked because storage is where small leaks turn into mould.

Inventory & Condition Report

We photograph the van at drop-off, list visible damage, and record fittings on board. Same report is reissued at collection so there's no dispute about condition.

What Happens While Your Van Is Stored

Storage isn't passive at Focus RV. Long-term clients get scheduled checks, and every van gets a roadworthy review before collection.

Scheduled Visual Checks

Long-term storage clients get a scheduled walk-around on a set frequency. Anything noted is reported by phone or email before action is taken.

Battery Maintenance

Where storage exceeds three months, we run a battery top-up cycle to keep AGM and lithium banks from dropping below safe voltage. Important for any van with a fridge controller, alarm or tracker drawing standby current.

Tyre Rotation

Wheels are rotated to a new ground contact point on the published schedule for stays beyond three months.

Pre-Collection Roadworthy Check

Before collection, the van runs through a roadworthy check: tyres, lights, brakes, couplings, gas system pressure-test if isolated. You collect a van that's ready to tow, not one that needs a service the next day.

Why Store Your Caravan at Focus RV

Workshop on Site

Storage facilities without a workshop can't fix what they find. We can. If a tyre wears during storage, a battery fails or a fridge controller needs replacing, the work happens on site without moving the van.

Authorised Warranty Agent

Focus RV is an authorised warranty agent for Windsor, Apollo, Winnebago, Talvor, Thetford and Coronal. Warranty work scheduled during storage is preauthorised through the manufacturer and completed without you collecting and re-dropping the van.

Approved Insurance Repairer

Focus RV is an approved repairer for Allianz, AAMI, RACV, Rentsure, CIL and AMA. Insurance jobs during storage move from claim to repair to roadworthy without intermediate van moves.

Written Workmanship Guarantee

Every piece of work done during storage carries a written workmanship guarantee. The guarantee covers the work, not just the storage. Pure self-storage providers don't issue one because they don't do the work.

How the Storage Process Works

1. Phone Quote

Call (03) 8383 1026 with the van type, dimensions and approximate stay length. We confirm availability and quote storage plus any pre-storage prep you want included.

2. Drop-Off & Inventory

Bring the van to 1801 Sydney Road, Campbellfield. We photograph the condition, run the pre-storage prep checklist and confirm the collection plan.

3. In-Storage Period

Van sits in storage. Long-term clients get scheduled checks. You can request a non-scheduled visit, repairs or accessory installation at any point during the stay.

4. Pre-Collection Notice

Give us 48 hours notice before collection. We run the roadworthy check, reconnect batteries and gas if isolated, and have the van ready when you arrive.

5. Hand-Back

Walk-around against the drop-off inventory, sign-off, and the van is yours. If anything needed servicing during storage and you opted in, you collect a serviced van.
